1. Unboxing Your Brother Printer

✔ Remove All Packaging

• Remove blue tapes from outside and inside

• Check the ink/toner section for packing material

• Remove the scanner packing lock (for all-in-one models)

2. Set Up the Printer Hardware

✔ Step 1: Insert Ink or Toner

Depending on your model:

Inkjet Printers (DCP/MFC-T Series)

• Open the ink tank cover

• Remove bottle seals

• Pour each ink color into the correct tank (BK, C, M, Y)

• Do NOT squeeze bottles (Brother is gravity-feed)

Laser Printers (HL, DCP, MFC-L Series)

• Take out the toner and drum

• Remove orange protective pieces

• Insert toner into the drum until it clicks

• Slide the drum unit inside the printer

3. Paper Loading

1. Pull out the paper tray

2. Adjust paper guides

3. Insert paper (A4 recommended)

4. Close the tray firmly

Make sure paper isn’t bent, dusty, or overly thick.

4. Power ON and Initial Configuration

✔ When you turn it ON:

• Select Language

• Set Country/Region

• Set Date & Time

For InkTank models, the printer may auto-prime ink for 5–10 minutes.

5. Install Brother Printer Drivers

Method 1: Download Automatically (Recommended)

2. Select your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux)

3. Download Full Driver & Software Package

4. Install using on-screen instructions

Choose Wireless Setup, USB Setup, or Network Setup when prompted.

6. USB Connection Setup (Simple Method)

1. Turn ON the printer

2. Connect the USB cable to your PC

3. Windows/macOS auto-installs basic drivers

4. Run the downloaded Brother driver for full functionality

5. Print a test page

❌ Ink Not Printing / Faded Print

• Run Print Head Cleaning (InkJets)

• Shake toner gently (Laser)

• Make sure you used genuine ink/toner

• Clean print head 2–3 times if needed

❌ Scanner Not Working

• Reinstall iPrint&Scan

• Make sure scanner driver is installed

• Try another USB cable

• For Wi-Fi models: ensure same network

7. Wireless (Wi-Fi) Setup – All Brother Models

6. Enter Wi-Fi password

7. Press OK

Your printer should show:
Connected → SSID: your network name

1. Press the WPS button on your router

2. On the printer:

1. Download “Wireless Setup Helper” from Brother support

2. Run the tool

3. Enter Wi-Fi password

4. Tool sends network info to printer

8. Mobile Printing Setup

Method 1 – Brother iPrint&Scan App (Best Method)

1. Install Brother iPrint & Scan from Play Store / App Store

2. Ensure phone + printer on same Wi-Fi

3. App auto-detects the printer

4. Print or scan directly

9. Print a Test Page

Windows:

• Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Printers

• Choose Brother Printer

• Click Print Test Page

macOS:

• System Settings → Printers & Scanners

• Select Brother Printer

• Click Print Test Page

If test page prints correctly → setup successful.

10. Basic Troubleshooting

❌ Printer Not Connecting to Wi-Fi

• Make sure you're using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, not 5GHz

• Move printer closer to router

• Re-enter Wi-Fi password

• Restart router and printer

❌ USB Printer Not Detected

• Use a different USB port

• Reinstall Brother driver package

• Try another laptop/PC

• Use original Brother cable if available

❌ Paper Jam

• Remove tray → pull jammed paper slowly

• Open back door (if available)

• Clean rollers

• Reload proper paper

• Don’t overfill tray
